IQAir wins top rated air purifier award – for the 5th time
The HealthPro® Plus room air purifier by IQAir has received Consumers Digest’s prestigious “Best Buy” award in the Premium category numerous times – five times, to be exact.
The HealthPro Plus was featured most recently in the publication in an article titled “Breathe Easy: High-Performance Air Purifiers.” The award marked the fifth time in a row that this top rated air purifier received a Best Buy award.
“It is a great honor to receive a Consumers Digest Best Buy award four times in a row,” said Frank Hammes, President of IQAir. “We work hard to continuously find ways to make the HealthPro Plus even better and to stay ahead of the competition.”
Consumers Digest said the HealthPro Plus remains the only air purifier that it found to have a combination of a 10-year warranty, six fan speeds, and four-stage filtration. Consumers Digest evaluated the HealthPro Plus in its New Edition configuration, which delivers up to 25% more clean air, up to 38% longer filter life, and 32% less sound than previous HealthPro Plus models.
How did the HealthPro Plus earn this award?
The “Best Buy” designation is based on performance, ease and cost of maintenance, quality of construction and the coverage area that the air purifier cleans. The Consumers Digest staff conducts hands-on evaluation and research to identify exceptional values.
In a previous article that awarded the HealthPro Plus with a Best Buy award, titled “Air Supply: Best Buys in Air Purifiers, Humidifiers and Portable Heaters,” Consumers Digest found the HealthPro Plus to be “ideal for allergy sufferers” and praised its ability to clean air in large spaces.
IQAir’s air cleaners are the only HyperHEPA® air cleaners made for the home market. HyperHEPA is the highest standard of HEPA filtration. While most HEPA air purifiers can only filter fine particles down to 0.3 microns in size, IQAir’s patented HyperHEPA technology can filter particles down to 0.003 microns with a guaranteed minimum efficiency of over 99%. HyperHEPA offers 100 times the air cleaning efficiency of traditional HEPA air cleaners.
As the Consumers Digest reviewers write, “The IQAir HealthPro Air Purifier is a step up from most of the air purifiers we’ve reviewed…for homes with people who are highly sensitive to allergens or where there is someone who is ill and can’t afford to catch an illness from another family member, IQAir’s HealthPro may be worth it.”
And the HealthPro Plus doesn’t stop at allergens – this purifier also includes five pounds of activated carbon packed into and arranged in a V-shaped filter. The two-stage V5-Cell™ Gas and Odour Filter uses dual media to filter a wide spectrum of volatile organic compounds (the cause of odors) and other harmful chemical vapors from common indoor sources, such as cooking, cleaning with chemicals, and offgassing from furniture, paint, dry-cleaned clothing, and pesticides. A combination of granular activated carbon adsorption and pelletized chemisorption work together to go beyond conventional activated carbon filters found in ordinary air purifiers, protecting indoor spaces from toxic buildups of gases and VOCs.
The HealthPro Plus also features the most powerful fan ever used in a compact room air purifier. That power translates into even better air cleaning results. The new three-dimensionally optimized design uses state-of-the-art aerodynamics to convert energy into more air and less noise. IQAir systems use the highest-quality fan motor available, with an astonishing 1325 m3/h at 2750 rpm. Because each fan is individually balanced and uses steel ball bearings, it outlasts other fans by years. And the fan is suspended in a housing unit that isolates the fan from the housing with eight shock absorbers to further reduce noise.
And even with all of this power, it still requires no more power than a conventional light bulb, delivering up to 780 cubic feet of air per minute while requiring as little as 27 watts of power at the lowest speed and up to a maximum of 215 watts at the highest speed. As a result, it costs only pennies per day to run the most advanced and effective air purifier in the world.
Consumers Digest also cautions readers in the article that there are many air-purifying devices being sold today that do not live up to their advertising claims. Many manufacturers use gimmicks like UV light disinfection, negative ionization, and particle “destruction,” all of which can introduce even more dangerous substances into your air.
IQAir makes the world’s only certified HyperHEPA home air cleaners. Each HealthPro Plus is individually tested and certified at the factory to make sure that the air cleaner shipped to the consumer performs exactly as promised. And the unrivaled performance of IQAir filtration technology is achieved using only safe, proven, mechanical filtration technology, without generating dangerous ions, ozone, or UV. The mechanical filtration used by IQAir’s particle filters remove particles from the air by safely capturing them on filter materials. Other air cleaning technology can be less effective, incorporate unsafe methods when IQAir offers proven protection without harmful byproducts.
Consumers Digest defines a Best Buy as the product that offers the most value for a given amount of money. That doesn’t mean that it is the least expensive product in a category, nor does it mean it is the best-known brand. A Consumers Digest Best Buy is a nationally available product that is identified as one that merits special attention from consumers based on its combination of performance, ease-of-use, features, durability, warranty, efficiency, styling, and maintenance and service requirements.
