As well as being safe, there are three simple steps to using an InSinkErator disposals. Firstly, turn the cold water tap on. This will help solidify food waste, allowing it to be easily flushed through your plumbing.
Then press the Air Switch button to activate the disposer and slowly add food scraps without overloading (bear in mind that the bigger the grind chamber of your disposer, the more food it can handle at once). Listen out for the grinding to stop and turn off your disposer whilst letting the cold water run for another 10 seconds.

The M Series can dispose of most food waste, including chicken bones. However stringy and fibrous materials such as banana peel are only recommended to be used with an Evolution disposer.
