Eemax was established in 1988 with a line of tankless heaters for commercial applications ranging in size from 0.5gpm to about 1.5gpm. The original Eemax technology was patented and quickly emerged as the most flexible technology on the market, which was a critical factor in the early stages of the development of the US market for electric tankless heaters. Eemax's first product, the 9.5 kW Flow Control, was developed in 1989 as a simple on/off device for hand-washing applications.

Throughout the 1990's Eemax expanded its market leadership position by continued expansion of its product line to address higher flow rate applications. In early 2000, Eemax responded to an emerging demand for electric tankless heaters with the introduction of a line of residential products so consumers could enjoy the benefits of tankless heating. Over the last years Eemax has established a leadership position in the residential market to complement its commercial business.
